What Are Porcelain Veneers?

You might have heard of veneers before, especially if you have been researching cosmetic dental procedures. To help you determine whether you want to get porcelain veneers, you should know what they are.

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are colored to match your teeth. They are placed on the front surface of your teeth.

Porcelain veneers can help to improve the appearance of your teeth. They can change the shape, color, size, and length of your teeth. If there is anything you dislike about your teeth, our dentists in Tampa can help you to decide which cosmetic procedure will work best for you.

How Are Porcelain Veneers Installed?

The process of getting porcelain veneers can include several appointments. First, you will have a consultation with one of our dentists. You can talk to our dentists about what you want to achieve by having a cosmetic procedure done.

One of our dentists will discuss the procedure, what it entails, and determine whether porcelain veneers are a good fit. X-rays may be taken as well.

At the next two appointments, the porcelain veneers will be made and installed. One of our dentists will shape the surface of your tooth. A model or impression of your tooth is also made.

You might wear temporary veneers while you wait for the porcelain veneers to be made. This can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.

The veneers will then be placed on your teeth and fit properly. Once one of our dentists achieves the perfect fit, it will be cemented to your tooth. A light is used to harden the cement.

Finally, our dentists will clean up the excess cement and make minor adjustments. You may come in for follow-up appointments after a couple of weeks.
